Northwest’s Guisinger and Cole named to CoSIDA Academic All-District College team

Two Northwest University (NU) men’s track and field team members have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District College team for track and field and cross country.

Senior Brian Guisinger and graduate student Kyle Cole were named to the 12-member team.

According to an NU press release, Guisinger, of Rainier, Ore., just graduated in May with a degree in accounting and maintained a 3.85 grade point average. During his time at NU, Guisinger competed in both cross country and track and field for the Eagles. He plans to enroll in graduate school in the fall.

Cole is from Shoreline and earned his undergraduate degree in history. According to the release, he is currently working on his masters of business administration at NU. Cole posted a 3.58 grade point average in his graduate studies and competes in both cross country and track and field at NU.

According to the release, the Academic All-America program is comprised of four divisional teams with student athletes honored separately in Division I, Division II and Division III. The college division team is comprised of National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, Canadian and two-year student athletes. The release states that this format began in the 2011-12 academic year. Previously there were two teams: a university division (D1) and a college division (all others).

CoSIDA began the Academic All-America program in 1952 and since then, has recognized thousands of student athletes from numerous sports across all divisions with its Academic All-America scholar-athlete honors.
