Freshmen Tea Adams and Shalexxus Aaron led the Rebels girls basketball team to its first two wins of the season earlier this week. But it was junior Jaisa Nunn’s 21 points and 14 rebounds that helped to lead Juanita past Liberty in overtime Friday night, 68-64, and stay perfect on the season.
The game stayed close during the first half, as Juanita could not shake their visitors from Renton. The Rebels eventually gained a slim 31-28 halftime lead.
Juanita padded that lead with a 14-10 advantage during the third quarter. But it wasn’t enough as the Patriots made a fourth-quarter run and tied the game by the end of regulation.
Despite the fourth-quarter swoon, the Rebels were able to pick themselves up and push past the Liberty defense by outscoring the Patriots 11-7 during the overtime period.
Aaron finished the contest with 15 points, while Adams had 14. Rebel senior Kenzie Waltar had nine points.
