Senior guard Sam Linsky scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Lake Washington High boys basketball team as the Kangs rolled to a 67-36 conference win over Sammamish on Tuesday in Bellevue.
The Kangs (5-4 KingCo, 7-4) have won four of the last five games, all conference match ups, and currently sit at fourth in the conference standings. Sammamish (0-10, 0-16) got off to a hot start, scoring 14 points in the first quarter, but Lake Washington held the Totems under double figures in each of the final three quarters.
Dalton Liesse had 14 points, and sophomore Griffin Barker had 11 points and eight boards.
Max Donaldson led Sammamish with 14 points.
Next, Lake Washington is scheduled to continue conference play with a home game against Bellevue at 8 p.m. on Jan. 20 at Lake Washington High School.
Mercer Island 53, Juanita 52.
The Rebels had a shot at knocking off the conference leaders on Tuesday on Mercer Island, putting on a big second-half rally, but the Islanders managed to hold on and stay atop the KingCo standings.
Juanita (4-6, 7-9) trailed by 12 points at halftime after a rough first quarter, but went on a 3-point barrage in the third and fourth quarters. The Rebels got within one point with 41 seconds to play, but Mercer Island (8-2, 8-4) came up with a big steal to seal the game.
Juanita senior Ravi Regan-Hughes led all scorers with 19 points.
Next, the Rebels will play Interlake at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at the Juanita Fieldhouse.
