The following is a release from Seattle Sounders FC:
Seattle Sounders FC announced April 30 that it has partnered with Washington Global Heath Alliance to host the inaugural Rave Green Run on Aug. 9 at Juanita Bay in Kirkland. Proceeds from the Rave Green Run support Washington Global Health Alliance. Following the run, the event includes a viewing party of Sounders FC’s match against the LA Galaxy at 1 p.m.
“The Rave Green Run is our chance to celebrate and strive toward healthy communities, both here and abroad,” said Sounders FC Director of Community Outreach Roger Levesque. “I can’t wait to join fellow Sounders FC fans and pound the pavement in support of Washington Global Health Alliance’s efforts to empower communities through increased access to clean water. This is a feel-good event that you won’t want to miss.”
The Rave Green Run features a nine-kilometer run, a five-kilometer run/walk and a one-kilometer kids dash. Registration is $35 and participants receive a 2015 Rave Green Run tech shirt, a Sounders FC Rave Finisher medal and entry to the post-race viewing party. For more information and to register, visit RaveGreenRun.com.
Portions of race entries benefit the Washington Global Health Alliance, a Sounders FC community partner, whose mission is to raise community awareness and support creative solutions that address local and global health challenges.
“We are so lucky to live in a state where people care about the health of those less fortunate than us,” said Washington Global Health Executive Director Lisa Cohen. “We’re thrilled to be joining together with Sounders FC on this important effort to bring clean water to women and girls around the world. This backing underlines the team’s commitment to equity and creating a level playing field for all.”
All participants are invited to a post-race viewing of Sounders FC’s Aug. 9 road match against the LA Galaxy on ESPN. The viewing party includes a beer garden, food trucks, live music and a family fun zone.
