The Kirkland-based Seattle Synchronized Swim 11-12 Team recently returned from National ESynchro Age Group Competition in Buffalo, N.Y. June 29-July 2 where they placed 5th in the United States Team competitions.

The team included Kirkland residents Abigail Orler, Zoe Strand, Sarah Roberts.

In addition, Abigail Orler and Akira Baysinger took 7th place in 11-12 Duet competition and Zoe Strand, Maya Chungbin-Steeley and Irene Gonzalez took 9th in Trio routine. This team was coached by Yuki Maekawa and Tiffani Hansen.

Seattle Synchronized Swim Team’s 13-15 Duet performed by Emily Drew (Bothell) and Lorraine Hack (Olympia) took 4th place and both team members have qualified to swim on the USA 13-15 Synchronized Swim Team that will be competing internationally in Peru in September.

In addition, the 13-15 Team routine took 8th place at the ESynchro Age Group Competition and team members include: Kirkland residents Kelsey Bearden, Emily Smith, Emily Drew, Amanda Dagel.

Bearden, Smith and Shlafer also represented the Northwest by competing in solo competition. This team was coached by Sachi Maekawa.

The Seattle Synchronized Swim Team practices at Kirkland’s Juanita High School, Tukwila and several other pools in the Seattle area. Coming up next, the Seattle Synchronized Swim Junior/Senior Team will be competing at the US Opens, July 14-18 in Irving, Texas.
