The third annual Round the Rock paddle race returns this Sunday to Seward Park for the dash around Mercer Island in one of the biggest paddle board events in the area.
The paddle board race, which takes place the morning of 9/11 anniversary, will include a memorial ceremony at 8:50 a.m., just after the meeting for the 13-mile event racers at Seward Park. The ceremony will include the Eastside Pipes and Drum band.
The racing event features a pro race around Mercer Island with a $10,000 prize, a kids race, a team relay race, free public demos, music, food and vendors.
The event proceeds go to Seattle Children’s Hospital at Surfrider Foundation.
