Two Kirklanders take first in triathlon

Two Kirkland athletes finished first in the 11th annual Seafair Triathlon at Seward Park. The event, which was sponsored by the Benaroya Institute, played host to nearly 2,000 athletes and took place on Sunday in Seattle. The Olympic style triathlon was composed of a one-mile swim, 20-mile bike ride and a 10K run and had over 500 participants.

Rusty Pruden was the top over all finisher and first male to cross the finish line, completing the course in 1 hour, 44 minutes and 59 seconds. Kimberly Pancoast was the first female to finish, completing the course in a time of 1:57:04.
