Two Northwest University athletes named Players of the Week

Northwest University’s Taylor Young and Brendon Wheeler have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference offensive and defensive players of the week as announced by the league office Sept. 15.

Northwest University’s Taylor Young and Brendon Wheeler have been named the Cascade Collegiate Conference offensive and defensive players of the week as announced by the league office Sept. 15. Senior Acacia Johnson earned honorable mention honors for women’s soccer offensive player of the week.

Men’s soccer – defensive

Wheeler, a junior from Snohomish was key in the two shutouts of Walla Walla University last week as he anchored the Eagle defense which allowed just five WWU shots in two games.

Men’s soccer – offensive

Young, a senior from Bellevue, scored two goals and had two assists in the NU wins over Walla Walla last week bringing his season total to four goals and four assists in as many games. The Eagle team captain is the CCC assist leader.

Women’s Soccer

The Eagles’ senior Acacia Johnson from Puyallup earned honorable mention honors for women’s soccer offensive player of the week. Johnson scored in each half in the NU 2-0 shutout of previously unbeaten Carroll College on Friday afternoon. Johnson leads the team with five goals this season for 10 points.
