The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced Monday that 286 Division II women’s basketball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Two Northwest University student-athletes earned honors: Paige Burson, a senior from Cottonwood, Calif., and Hannah Carlson, a junior from Ferndale, Wash. Burson started in 25 games for the Eagles this season at forward and averaged 5.7 points per game while averaging 3.2 rebounds. Paige is an Education major at NU.
Carlson started all 31 games for NU and averaged 10.8 point per game and 6.1 rebounds while majoring in English Literature.
In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
Northwest University is located in Kirkland’s Houghton neighborhood.
