The West (pictured) defeated the Southwest, 9-3, to win the Junior Softball World Series on Saturday at Everest Park in Kirkland. Jenna Thorkelson was the winning pitcher with seven strikeouts for the West (Santa Clara, Utah), which was led by Jael Wilde with three hits and three RBIs, Tyler Mooring with three hits and an RBI, Ginny Deming with a double and two RBIs, Kambrie Stuart with two hits, including a double and two RBIs and Addison Lacayo with two hits and an RBI. The Southwest was from Smithville, Texas. Europe-Africa (Bologna, Italy) took third place with a 4-3 win over the East (Cranston, Rhode Island). Andy Nystrom / staff photo
